Wedding photographer Marco Schwarz, was awarded 1st place for photo 442151 in the Engagement Portrait category for the WPJA's 2010 Q3.
- Really excellent image. Very hard to make this image work and the photographer did a terrific job. Your eye goes right to the couple kissing at the top in the cafe.
- The world hasn’t stopped but they have to share a kiss framed beautifully with life passing them by. Lens selection, framing, graphics all work together to make this intimate moment juxtaposed in this city scene a wonderful image. The lime green color above helps focus on the couple above. Very nicely framed with the white lights above them.
- What's not to like about an image with compositional and lighting balance that works together like a surprise ending. Even an observant soul like myself missed the obvious among the crowd. I looked once. Then twice. And there they were, alone in a kiss. That's some very fine photography with a real "payoff" to reward the suspense of my search.
The WPJA contest judges presented Marco Schwarz, a Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.
