11th place in Bride Getting Ready
The WPJA contest judges presented Larry Stanley, a Montana, United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

Photographer's Comment
When Barbara was putting on her wedding day pearls I sensed something special in the moment. My camera was not far from my face and my intuition was correct. The sting of her pearls perfectly reflected her shoulder line. You can see the motion of her hand and hair as I grabbed the image at 1/30 of a second in low light. I love this image.
Judges
- A kind of whimsical photograph that you might see in a perfume ad. The composition is quite nice, the little bit of motion and the soft light add to the mood.
