Frenetic energy captured in an unusual, beautifully lit moment

Tone and feel maybe one of the most important aspects of the quieter categories in the competition. A moment between a father and a bride captured a real serious quiet moment before the wedding. It has what many other photographs lack in the contest, a sense of weight and seriousness to the moment. Everything after this one, for me was emotion, so was this, but of a much different class.

Looking like a battlefield, pre-engagement, this picture works on a level of humor, composition and a nice moment with all the bridesmaids in varying degrees of readiness.

Nice job of being there to capture a rare, humorous touch of humanity.

Who can't laugh at this image? This is a great moment that really captures the craziness of getting ready and the friendship between the bride and bridesmaid.

This image struck me immediately for its simple, clean composition, and the quiet moment it represents. The placement of the hand on the shoulder is what makes this image great. The quality of light is very nice as well.

This image does an excellent job of capturing the essence and the mood of male bonding. The elements of this photo are subtle, yet they convey a whole lot more.

I kept coming back to this photo, as the image works on many levels. Great composition, beautifully constructed, and the body language on the young lady sensually mirrors the sweep on the dress on the door.

Nice job noticing the detritus of the wedding preparation.

This is a fantastic moment, framed perfectly. The person in black on the right being partially cut off while getting a sense of the rest of the room is brilliant framing. Most photographers would have gotten in closer, included more of the person on the right, and less of the room, and it wouldn't have been as successful. Very nice job.

Almost snapshot in nature, this is quite an elegant image. I saw few images of males preparing for the wedding; this photo works with its very warm palette, the guy seemingly unaware of the photographer's presence and his multi-tasking.

The first time I saw this image I almost skipped right by, but I thought I would stop for a moment to see what was on the computer screen. I got a real kick out of this image once I realized that a grown man still doesn't know how to tie a tie. Have no fear, the Internet to the rescue! This is a nice moment that many photographers would have walked right by.

Great job of seeing an unusual scene and finding an unusual angle to capture it.

This is a beautiful moment between generations. The photographer gave us an intimate and unobtrusive moment that one might not expect.

A private moment between the bride and her mirror reveals character with a twist, the antithesis of the feminine bride putting on lipstick. Stepping back and showing the bride in the bathroom as she flexes her muscles is a unique moment.

The photograph is a moment. But not just any moment, it goes beyond the obvious and goes to another level. It's a perfectly groomed and ready bride downing the biggest pre-wedding submarine sandwich ever made. It's seeing a moment and capturing with technical perfection.
