Gorgeous, scenic photograph that incorporates natural beauty and a private moment. Can a scene be enough to evoke a sense of mood, place and time? This image is timeless and beautiful in composition and feel. It is what the photographer saw and why still images will matter long after the video has been put on the shelf.

When the bride is light and the groom isn't and you can use that graphic and light to define each, it just a matter of seeing it. Shooting this light, and composing it perfectly as a vertical, one of the few in this competition, it is not only a good moment it is a very symbolic image. Great job. Loved the photograph and it inspired me.

I liked this image the moment I saw it, and never lost the magic of this special moment. The evening's almost over, the party is done, and the photographer had the vision to step back and capture the whole magic seen using the ambient light.

Boy, this is an example of seeing well!! The guys in the background provide the “supporting cast†for our beautiful bride applying makeup, and using just enough of her face with the front layer being her cheek, nice, nice image!!

This is a really nice perspective. Very original and creative. I also like the 'behind the scenes' viewpoint, and including the catering crew in the image. In this case, the bride is actually behind the scenes, which is a unique touch.

The movement in this image is very nice. I like how there's a nice rim of light outlining her, separating her from the black background. Sharp contrast in places, yet soft and flowing in others. The spotlight and twirl of the dress remind me of an old Hollywood movie. Very nice image in a technically difficult situation.

The sky makes the background. It feels like a heavenly moment for the happy couple.

Tender, personal moment. Documentary style and classic use of window lighting.

Many of the rest are just what the category title says, shadow and light, silhouettes and form, including this one. I like the angle, but I can tell you something I've wanted to say this whole judging. Unless the mural, sign, or graphic you're exploiting goes a long long way to help the picture, usually its hurting the picture. In only one case so far, and it's in this photograph did the graphic design of something, in this case the floor add to the photo. That, coupled with the color and form of the bride and groom made it a good crisp image.

I missed this picture the first time I looked through the pictures in this category. The second time through I pulled it out as a possibility. Each time I looked at this image I liked it more and more. Very nice placement of shadows across the cake, and it's a unique way to photograph the cake.
