What a different dance picture, and done very well. It took a good eye to spot this and make it work. It is very rare to make a picture with this many people, in which every element contributes to the whole. All those perfectly upraised arms, mirrored by those crazy shadows, reinforced by the little faces made happy with dance. Nice.
Photographer's Comment
Fast action dancing photos combining background ambient light with foreground flash are some of the most difficult to capture. Often the job of the photographer is to pull together a coherent story from the chaos. It took nearly a dozen images to get this winner. Patience and persistence ultimately paid off.

What a great treat to get such a fine picture from the fringes of a wedding. I get a whole story, a whole mood, a whole sense of what boys think of weddings. The foot coming out of the tree, the boy running around the back, the one looking up, and that kid on the slide all lose their individual selves and become Boy. The magic light and the off-kilter framing only add to the dreamy quality of the photo.

A striking photo visually, charged with suspense. i love the hand of the woman reaching out to do a last fix to the gown.

It's the hands. They make this photograph work. The idea is a nice one. The photographer handled background and framing and made a good print of the photo. All that let those hands come forth. Very nice seeing. A fun composition, with an almost Picasso-esque sense of abstraction.

This is just simply a beautiful image made under difficult circumstances. The body language, the flare, the contrast, all combine to make this a winner!

A very intriguing photo, with echoes of Ellis Island. A very original wedding photo.

A very moody painterly moment, well-composed and seen. The slight sparkle on the dress draws the eye.
