Reception

The swirl of motion around the couple was well executed and captured the excitement of the reception. What a great feeling of movement and joy the photographer captured using a slow shutter. The couple is, literally, the center of the party, the point about which all others rotate. Nice.

Good for the photographer to find this image! i'm sure it took a certain amount of "stick-to-it-iveness" that was well rewarded. Intergenerational snoozing is a time-honored reception tradition. Nicely captured.

This dance scene has great moment and body language. The moody light adds to the strength of the image. Fun photo. Great job with flash and really catching something fun. Dance photos can be tough.

This high angle and blurred crowd gives a wonderful sense of place and party. The bright light coming from the windows adds to the graphic quality of the image.

A complicated picture full of little stories to unwrap. This photographer worked hard to find sense in the chaos of the moment. Everything works together: the hands primping hair, the hug, the look of the man at right. It's urgent and busy and intriguing.

Such an interesting moment and a great way to shoot it. I love that the photographer kept in all of her dress—that made it work. I wish it didn't cut the top of her head though.

The last supper feel and moment within moments are great. Great negative space on the lower left and right, pull the eye into the center subjects.

This is just the kind of tender moment that needs to be handled with care. This photographer did just that, stepping back to give us a sense of place, to let us wonder about that woman at right, removed from the group, and to give the photograph a layered feel with the woman in the background. All that makes the kiss all the more intimate by making it the quiet focus of a complex picture. The print is really nice, too.

This photographer gets points for seeing an image where none was obvious. This is so simple an image, but I think one that many people can relate to, and smile at.
