Kids (being kids)

Boy, I wish these pictures had captions. That would clear up some things for me. The girls are oblivious to the photographer in the limo with them. The color and use of available light are perfect. And the girl's "can we talk" expression is priceless. Even the driver's rear-view mirror is utilized well in the frame.

This was one of the most quiet images I have seen in the contest. But if you look close the image is quite telling. I love the girl's glance up at the dress and great light.

Clever concept and good use of color. Might have been a bit better to have the focus on the child's face.

Love seeing the personality of both kids. The frame is well constructed. The expression of the child on the right plus the rigid stance of the child in the middle makes for a fun photo.

Composition, contrast and subtle motion combine to create a serene image. The tug of her dress and the twirl of the skirt are an interesting counterbalance to the stability of her step.

This was not the most perfectly composed but it had a great photojournalistic-moment quality that I kept coming back to. I really like the humor of the image and the fact there is no face makes me feel it could be any wedding. Nice moment.

Great moment. The photographer gets these nice rewards when they go the extra mile to cover the events around the event. Nice find.

It doesn't get any truer than this picture of the girl fed up with the primping and poking of her mom before the wedding. I can feel her pain. The sidelight is nice, too.
Photographer's Comment
Younger kids almost always get fussy sometime during the wedding so I tend to keep an eye on these moments. The bride to be happened to be getting ready in this same room as her niece and though I was focusing my attention on the bride, I noticed the niece getting her hair done by her mother. The best photographs are kids are taken from their level so I positioned myself at bed level in front of the little girl, trying to remain as unnoticeable as I could. She didn't even really notice me in front of her and was more concerned with being fussy. Being a fly on the wall at times can reap great images.

It's graphically simple and strong, capturing the child's adoration of and dependence on the adult, whether they're dancing or she's clinging to him for protection. The photographer getting low to make the image helps the viewer appreciate the child's point of view.

I loved how everyone is trying to contribute something to solve the problem. Clean composition and great moment. We are storytellers and this is a nice story!
